Oito presos da ala Covid-19 da cadeia de São Félix do Araguaia ( a 1150 km de Cuiabá) fugiram na tarde deste domingo (21). Segundo o boletim epidemiológico, divulgado pela secretaria de Saúde do município, 48 dos 58 detentos testaram positivo para Covid-19. Por volta das 14h deste domingo, oito deles conseguiram sair da cadeia.
Os policiais montaram uma força-tarefa na região para recapturar os fugitivos. O detentos foram identificados como Kaled Barboza Abreu, Gustavo Araujo Martins, Wanderson Nobre de Sá, Wanderson Lima Pereira, Marcelo Alves Souza dos Santos, Nilson Luz de Oliveira, Edinei Lima da Silva e Rafael Almeida de Souza.
Segundo a secretaria de Segurança Publica, eles aproveitaram o fato de que estavam isolados, por terem testado positivo para o coronavírus (Covid-19), e pularam o muro durante o banho de sol.
Policiais penais começaram as buscas imediatamente após a fuga, com apoio da Polícia Militar e do Serviço de Operações Especiais do Sistema Penitenciário (SOE). Até o momento, nenhum deles foi localizado.
O estado de saúde dos recuperandos é considerado bom, com sintomas leves e todos já estavam em tratamento. A ampliação do banho de sol, inclusive, foi uma das medidas adotadas pela direção da unidade para evitar a proliferação do vírus.
Além disso, foi reforçada a importância do uso de máscaras junto aos reeducandos e a limpeza da unidade foi intensificada.
